Today the Deputy Mayor of uMngeni Municipality, Sandile Mnikathi, led another joint operation that incorporated, our Traffic officials, Department of Home Affairs’ immigration division, consumer relations and liquor authority from the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environment Affairs, uMgugundlovu Fire and Rescue and uMgungundlovu Environmental Health to assess business compliance at the Howick CBB. Several arrests of undocumented immigrants were made.
These operations are ongoing and we would like to issue a stern warning to shop owners who are operating illegally and those that are selling stale food to communities.
This is in line with our key priority number 5; building safer communities.
