The Speaker of the uMngeni Municipality, Janis Holmes received netball and soccer sports kits handed over by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture on behalf of recipient clubs within the municipal area. The kits which included training cones and balls as well as other related training equipment were requested by individual clubs after the Department advertised its support programme.
The Speaker also handed over musical instruments which included saxophones, guitars and a violin to the Music Voyage company, an initiative that invests in self-worth of young people in farms, rural and informal settlements through music education. With the instruments handed over by the Speaker, Music Voyage will train the Lion’s River Primary School choir in preparation for a competition to be held in Gauteng.
