The uMngeni Municipality has acquired 18 vehicles, including two waste compactor trucks, 14 light duty vehicles (bakkies) and a combi at a total cost of R3 193 217. 88 million.
These vehicles were previously on lease with a financial institution, however the Municipality opted for the wise move of not extending the lease agreement. Instead the uMngeni Municipality decided to purchase them and own the vehicles: adding them to our fleet and asset register.
These vehicles will continue to implement service delivery in our various communities which include refuse collection, grass cutting, facilites maintenance and transportation of staff.
Through this action we are saving local rate payers R200 000.00 a month (R2.4 million a year).
