The uMngeni Municipality wishes to announce the appointment of Mr Asanda Mandlana as the new Director for Community Services and Public Safety. Mr Mandlana previously worked as Manager: Community and Social Services for the Greater Kokstad Municipality from 2023 to 2024. He has also worked as the General Manager: Environmental Quality and Coastal Management for the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality from 2022 to 2023.
Mr Mandlana also worked as Manager: Citizen and Community Services for the Umzimvubu Local Municipality from 2010 to 2022 and as the Environmental Officer for the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs ( Afred Nzo Region) from 2008 to 2010.
Mr Mandlana obtained his Master’s Degree of Arts in Development Studies at the Nelson Mandela University with a research focus area in the circular economy. He holds a Bachelor of Public Administration Honours from the University of Stellenbosch, a Bachelor of Science Honours Geography from the Walter Sisulu University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (also from Walter Sisulu University). Mr Mandlana also obtained a Certificate in Management Development for Municipal Finance (CPMD) from the Witswatersrand, and he is also a registered professional with the following professional registration bodies:- South African Council for Landscape Architecture Profession (SACLAP), South Africa Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNSP) and Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA).
