The uMngeni Municipality’s Local Economic Development sub-directorate led a joint operation that incorporated, our Traffic officials, personnel from the uMgungundlovu Environmental Health, Nottingham Road SAPS members, uMgungundlovu Fire and Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs to assess business compliance in Nottingham Village. Expired food items were confiscated from one of the supermarkets in the area and properly disposed of.
These operations are ongoing, and we would like to issue a stern warning to shop owners who are operating illegally and those that are selling expired items to consumers.
This is in line with our key priority number 5; building safer communities.
