












































His Worship the Mayor of uMngeni Municipality, Chris Pappas recently conducted the 2025/2026 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget Mayoral Izimbizo in Mpophomeni Hall, Emandleni Hall, Lion’s River Hall, Howick South Hall and at Loskop Farm in Karkloof.
In terms of the Municipal Systems Act: Chapter 4, the Municipality is required to consult the community during the development of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP). The IDP informs the Budget as the strategic plan of the Municipality.
Moreover, the Mayor also conducted the Mayoral Khulumanathi / Talk To Us IDP and Budget engagements with various stakeholders including the local taxi association, chairpersons of housing estates, environmentalists, waste pickers, conservancies, waste management companies, business people and ratepayers’ association.
The Municipality has extended the period for public input on the uMngeni Local Municipality’s Draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Review 2025/2026 and Multi-Year Budget. The initial closing date for public comment was 28 April 2025. The closing date is now extended to Monday, the 26th of May 2025. This extension is necessary to allow residents and stakeholders the legislated 30-day period (excluding weekends and public holidays) to submit their input.
