Today His Worship the Mayor of uMngeni Municipality, Chris Pappas handed over much needed hearing aids to 10 beneficiaries who are deaf and partially deaf and white canes to six blind beneficiaries during a programme held at the Council Chambers.
It was a joyous occasion for the community that is usually neglected.
The beneficiaries are from the various Wards. The hearing aids cost between R2 774.16 and R3 943.13 each while the white canes cost between R478 to R900 and the Municipality wishes to encourage anyone who wishes to assist towards the purchasing of more of these assistive devices for donations to more beneficiaries can email Nompumelelo Mncwabe on nompumelelo.mncwabe@umngeni.gov.za.
