Mayor of uMngeni Municipality, Cllr Sizwe Sokhela, today officially handed over capital projects
As part of the IDP and Budget Implementation plan, the Mayor of uMngeni Municipality, Cllr Sizwe Sokhela, today officially handed over capital projects in uMngeni Municipality and officiated sod turnings to mark the commencement of the projects requested by the community during the IDP & Budget Izimbizo in the 2018/2019 financial year.
The Mayor said that the projects are to further contribute to the development that has been achieved by the municipality in the previous financial years, moreover they will create temporary employment. Most importantly, said the Mayor, the official commencement of the projects ring true the call Thuma Campaign.
The projects officially handed over today are valued at R15 074 238 million.
Projects that were officially handed over today are as follows:
Ward 10 (Mpophomeni)
Upgrading Shayamoya Road
Cost: R2 587 412.03 million
Ward 3, 4 & 9
Construction of School, Sweet Value, Nondaba and Khumalo Roads
Cost- R3 150 840.00 million
Wards 1, 6 & 12
Construction of Chris Hani, Nxumalo and Mnquhe Roads
Cost - R3 133 093.93 million
Construction of Lions River Hall
Cost - R4 238 576.05 million
Construction of Cedara/Khanya Village Intersection
Cost: R1 964 316.15 million
These projects are estimated to be completed by June 30, 2019.
